Prediction: Sheriffs speaking out bad omen for Dems
An immigration watchdog that is witnessing the border crisis worsen by the day is praising sheriffs across the country for listening to their communities and sounding the alarm.
After being passed in the Senate last month, the Mississippi Fairness Act passed the House Wednesday by a vote of 81-28. While it's being viewed as a response to a recent executive order from President Joe Biden to allow for biological males to be able to compete in female sports, State Senator Angela Hill (R) authored and introduced the bill more than a year ago.
"It took two years," says the GOP lawmaker. "Mississippi is one of the handful of states with no specific policy on biological males competing on female-only teams.
"With the things that are going on across the country and the things that are even going on in the State of Mississippi, it's very wise for Mississippi to have a clear policy to protect biological females in their capacity as athletes."
Hill, a former science teacher, explains biological males have an advantage over females in sporting events. "The advantages are undeniable. And female sports will cease to exist if we allow biological males to come in and compete against females – it's that simple," she adds.
When signed by Governor Tate Reeves (R-Mississippi), the Fairness Act likely will be subject to a lawsuit. Still, Hill isn't concerned. "If you gauge what you do by what you think might be taken to the courts, you won't ever do anything good," she concludes.
Reeves tweeted on Thursday: "It's crazy we have to address it, but the Biden E.O. forced the issue. Adults? That's on them. But the push for kids to adopt transgenderism is just wrong."
