FCA logoA ministry that aims to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church has decided on its theme for the year: 100%.

Kellen Cox, executive vice president of ministry advancement for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), says the theme is all about young athletes giving 100 percent for Jesus Christ. He says this involves Christians in the United States and in 55 countries worldwide.

"By marrying up sports and faith, FCA will be able to step into the spaces where these competitors [are] looking for truth, they're looking for a coach, a life coach, a mentor, and someone really to show them how to play the game of life, not just the game of their sport," he tells OneNewsNow.

Aside from parents, a young person's coach will have the most influential role in the athlete's life.

"With over 60 million athletes participating just in the U.S., all those athletes have a coach," Cox notes. "And we believe that if we minister to the coach and through the coach, we have a much better chance of reaching these next few generations coming up behind us."

FCA is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year.
