Telfer transathlete at FPUThe head of a Christian sports ministry is concerned by a poll conducted to gauge public support for transgender males competing against females in women's sports events.

The survey, conducted by ScottRasmussen.com, was conducted in mid-April 2019 – and according to the findings, less than a quarter of respondents (23%) believe men should be able to compete in women's competitive sports events. But Steve McConkey, president of 4 WINDS Christian Athletics, is concerned that individuals under 35 are evenly divided on the question (41% yes, 44% no).

"[The poll] showed that the younger generations … are not opposed to transgenders in sports – [whereas] the older adults … are more situated in their belief, thinking there are two sexes," he summarizes.

Interestingly, however, the under-35 demographic overwhelming believes (60%-23%) that a transgender male would have an "unfair physical advantage" over biological females in a woman's sports event.

The Guardian reported in 2016 that the International Olympic Committee decided transgender athletes should be able to compete without sex-reassignment surgery. McConkey contends LGBT activists used that decision to their advantage to influence the younger generation.

"I think the public schools definitely used the Olympic decision to get into high schools; definitely, the public schools are at fault," he states.

Last month, the Democrat-controlled House overwhelmingly voted for The Equality Act, a controversial piece of legislation that would force public high schools to allow transgender boys to compete in girls' sports.
