A mother is searching for a capable doctor to perform a delicate heart surgery on her miracle baby.
Phoenix Da'Vine, born last year with a major heart problem, has undergone five heart surgeries. During one surgery, she suffered cardiac arrest and suffered brain damage, and doctors said she faces major medical problems.
The little child’s mother, Monique Goldring, told a Maryland TV news station that she made a decision no parent wants to make: to remove life support.
“The doctors told me that she would probably only survive about six hours,” the mother told ABC-7 TV.
Phoenix is expected to celebrate her first birthday August 25 but she is still on oxygen and feeding tubes, and now doctors are warning the mother that the child will not walk or talk.
“And I'm going to stress that she may not be doing those things right now,” said the mother, “but I was also told that she would be gone in six hours, so I just going to sit back and watch her thrive.”
The mother, meanwhile, is praying to find a doctor willing to perform a delicate surgery to help her one-year-old miracle. Doctors fear the child won't survive the two surgeries she needs, ABC-7 reported.
