Trump, others pounce on Dems' extreme abortion agenda

Trump mouth open micAt a recent pro-life summit, former President Donald Trump labeled Joe Biden one of the most "radical" presidents in U.S. history.

Trump made the comment while speaking at the Susan B. Anthony List's Pro-life Leaders Summit in Palm Beach, Florida. He was one of several rumored 2024 presidential hopefuls who assured pro-life activists that he's fully committed to protecting the sanctity of human life.

Biden no friend of the unborn

According to The Christian Post (CP), the pro-life event – hosted by one of America's most prominent pro-life advocacy organizations – was closed to the press and addressed the Biden administration's unprecedented assault on preborn children through its unequivocal support of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry via federal taxpayer funds.

"[President Joe Biden] is one of the most extreme and radical presidents we've had, and he's not even aware of it," Trump said to the crowd, according to a Twitter post by The Federalist's Mollie Hemingway last week.

She then noted how Trump mentioned the sneaky way Democrats concealed Biden's radical abortion agenda before the 2020 presidential election.

"[Part of Trump's speech focused on] condemning all of Biden's actions in support of abortion, noting Biden was kept in [the] basement [during his] campaign – kept quiet about what he'd do," Hemingway rehashed in another tweet.

Look the other way

In her thread of tweets, the conservative personality noted that Trump – who made perhaps more inroads for the pro-life movement than any other president – found it bizarre how Democrats' reckless abandon for the sanctity of human life is rarely an issue.

"He just pointed out that VA Gov. Ralph Northam got in more trouble for blackface than he did for saying babies who are born should be allowed to die if mother chooses, and that he thought that was [the] opposite of [the] way it should be," Hemingway recounted in a following tweet, noting that Trump was referring to remarks Northam made in a radio interview in January 2019.

The Democratic governor's radical views on abortion were made clear for all to hear on the radio at the time, but he is still in office more than two years later.

"Discussing a bill that would allow abortion up to the moment of birth, the Virginia governor expressed support for the measure," CP recalled. "He even suggested that women should have the option to abandon their newborn children if they have 'deformities.'"

Virginia's top politician went on to reveal the value – or lack thereof – that he has for human life.

"[Third-trimester abortions are] done in cases where there may be severe deformities – where there may be a fetus that's not viable," Northam explained before giving an example. "If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable. It would be resuscitated if that's what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother."

GOP aboard on pro-life movement

In addition to Trump's address, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.), Sen. Marco Rubia (R-Fla.) and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) – all of whom are considering 2024 election bids – spoke at the Pro-life Leaders Summit.

Former Republican presidential candidate Cruz attacked the Biden-Harris administration for catering to abortion activists.

"Defending the right to life is one of the most important responsibilities an elected official has," Cruz asserted at the summit, according to Fox News. "Not only do Joe Biden and Kamala Harris fail to embrace that responsibility, they pander to pro-abortion activists at every turn – even though a large majority of Americans believe abortion should only be legal under certain circumstances or completely illegal.

"Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are on the wrong side of history when it comes to abortion, and their views don't reflect what Americans want," said the Texas senator.

DeSantis touted his own record of protecting preborn children in the Sunshine State.

"[I appointed Florida Supreme Court justices who] respect the rule of law and religious liberty," the Florida governor said. "[I have signed legislation] that empowers families and sends a clear message that we will do everything we can to protect the unborn."

Americans, said the governor, must join together to stop the left's attacks on innocent preborn children.

"Building a culture of life requires us to champion policies that fight for our most vulnerable," DeSantis added. "Today is about applauding the tireless work of advocates like the Susan B. Anthony List team who defend life with vigor."

Rubio also vowed his commitment to fight the Democrats' assault on the unborn.

"The Biden administration is dominated by pro-abortion radicals who want to make it easier than ever to deny freedom to the unborn," Rubio insisted. "[I will] never stop protecting the rights of those yet to be born."

Excerpts of Scott's address were not provided in the Fox report.
