Catholic bishopsThe president and founder of a research and education organization "dedicated to the defense of the Catholic Church against assaults from without as well as from within" says the two liberal organizations targeting a Catholic official for correcting the president on faith matters are asserting themselves into a matter that does not concern them.

Michael Hichborn of the Lepanto Institute tells One News Now, "Faith in Public Life and Faithful America are both attacking Archbishop [Joseph] Naumann for actually calling Joseph Biden out for calling himself a devout Catholic, which he most certainly is not."

"A devout Catholic doesn't institute policies that would murder preborn children, hand out contraception, [and] facilitate same-sex marriages," Hichborn continues.

The self-described Christian groups want Naumann removed from his role as chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' Committee on Pro-Life Activities. But considering the fact that neither of organizations is Catholic, Hichborn says they are trying to asserts themselves into a matter that does not concern them.

"The archbishop most certainly has a right to say that Joseph Biden is not a devout Catholic because Archbishop Naumann is an authority of the Church, and Joseph Biden is a subject of the Church," the Institute president submits. "This is a Catholic matter, and these two organizations have no business talking about it."

Faith in Public Life and Faithful America are both financed in part by atheist billionaire George Soros, who "wants the Catholic Church out of the way in order to implement his Communist utopia in this country," Hichborn concludes.
