abortion toolsA pro-life leader in New Mexico is disappointed that her state has officially become an open state for abortion, and she says women and parents need to be concerned.

Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has signed into law Senate Bill 10, a measure that repeals a 1969 state statute that criminalized abortion and removes all legal obstacles to abortion in the Land of Enchantment.

Ethel Maharg of the Right to Life Committee of New Mexico says that means there are no longer any real restrictions on abortions through all nine months of pregnancy.

"They totally ignored conscience clause concerning doctors, and so that to us means doctors are leaving the state, which is horrible because we're already short on doctors," Maharg continues. "And then, of course, the abortion will continue in our state up to the day of delivery."

Maharg

Maharg says it was interesting to see pro-abortion lawmakers argue that the bill must be passed so as to maintain a standard of care for women.

"There is no standard of care, unfortunately," she submits. "Women are having abortions in hotel rooms here. They go and they send them to deliver their dead babies in a hotel room by themselves, and then they're to call the doctor. I mean, how safe is that for her?"

Underage girls are also now allowed to abort without parental notice or consent.

But Maharg assures One News Now her organization is not giving up and will work until the state passes legislation banning abortion.
