HHS emblem (Health & Human Services)Numerous pro-life organizations are on record disapproving of the president's nominee for HHS secretary.

Noah Weinrich of Heritage Action tells One News Now one of his group's main issues with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra potentially serving as head of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is that he does not have a medical background. Most secretaries of Health and Human Services have been doctors, and the ones who were not at least had medical experience.

"His experience is as a far-left member of Congress and a far-left attorney general of California," Weinrich explains. "His only real medical experience is suing the Catholic nuns to get them to pay for contraception against their deeply-held religious beliefs."

Becerra has supported socialized medicine, ObamaCare, and amnesty for illegal immigrants, and he is fully supportive of abortion on demand.

"As attorney general of California, he sued other states over their abortion laws, so we would expect he would do the same as secretary of Health and Human Services," Weinrich continues. "He would try to increase funding for abortion; he would change regulations so it would be easier than ever to get abortions and have dangerous over-the-counter abortion drugs."

Opponents of this nomination have launched a $2 million campaign against Becerra. Additionally, 60 pro-life leaders are calling on the Senate to deny him the post.
