Abby JohnsonThere were a few roadblocks along the way, but an event featuring pro-life activist Abby Johnson did occur this week at the Catholic University of America.

"The chaplain for Catholic University of America heavily pressured the Cardinals for Life group to cancel," Johnson (pictured, speaking at the 2020 RNC Convention) tells One News Now about Tuesday's Zoom lecture. "He pressured them so much so that several of the board members of the Cardinals for Life felt like they had to resign from their board positions because they wanted the event to move forward … and in fact, the board president actually resigned from the Cardinals for Life group."

The Daily Caller reported on the resignations.

Not long after the event was canceled, the university's College Republicans contacted Johnson.

They said 'we want to host you, we are 100% against cancel culture,'" says Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life activist. "So, we had the event Tuesday night and we had record attendance for any student-led presentation either in person or via zoom, with over 300 people showing up during the presentation."

Johnson has been accused of making "racist" and "homophobic" remarks, something National Catholic Reporter focused on heavily in its coverage of this week's events. Still, Johnson tells One News Now she isn't racist, and she doesn't hate anyone.

"I state biblical teaching on the issue of homosexuality and gender," says Johnson. "A lot of the things I've said regarding race are the same things that many black pastors say; they're the same things that Barack Obama said in 2008 during one of his speeches."

Johnson, who does not rule out people calling her names because of her support for former President Donald Trump, went on to say that it's all assumptions and rhetoric and people bearing false witness against her.
