An organization that desires that the benefits of modern medicine and the wealth of nations be put to the service of human life has taken an in-depth look at abortion stats and revealed some interesting numbers.
The investigation was not based on politics, but on the reality of abortion in the 38 states that report abortion figures.
"We did notice a difference between states that are more permissive of abortion and states that are protective of life," reports Tessa Longbons, a research associate for the Charlotte Lozier Institute who was deeply involved in reviewing the statistics up to 2018. "The states that are permissive of abortion overall saw much greater increases in abortions than the states that are life-affirming."
That, she says, comes down to hard numbers.
"Abortions went up by about two percent between 2017 and 2018, which is tragic to see," Longbons continues. "But in the permissive states, the states that are permissive of abortion, abortions increased by more than four percent, while in the states that are protective of life, abortions increased by less than one percent."

The research associate adds that surgical abortions went down during 2009-2018, while the chemical abortion method increased in popularity.
"In fact, between 2017 and 2018, chemical abortions went up by almost nine percent to 41 percent of all abortions," Longbons reports.
That do-it-yourself regime has already proven to be dangerous for women, with at least 24 women dead, two from ectopic pregnancies, and more than 4,000 incidents in which women were hospitalized with serious complications.
