pregnant woman handAn incident in Minnesota proves the value of pro-life sidewalk counselors and pro-life pregnancy centers.

A sidewalk counselor spoke to a woman who was entering a Planned Parenthood facility in St. Paul. The counselor explained to her that abortion destroys a human life and that alternatives are available.

According to Brian Gibson of Pro-Life Action Ministries in St. Paul, the woman's visit to the abortuary didn't last long.

"… A sidewalk counselor was out talking to a woman as she was leaving [Planned Parenthood] – and in the process she explained [to the counselor] that she decided not to have an abortion: She is carrying twins," Gibson explains. "So he went on to offer her the help that's available and lead her in the right direction for ongoing help."

That turned out to be a nearby pro-life pregnancy center. Gibson explains that a total of 42 of those centers are operating in the state.

"Overwhelmingly, these centers are run by people of faith," reports the pro-lifer. "Many are supported by Christian churches. The offering of help is [to] bend over backwards [and] do all that we can to care for those who need it."

Many centers can offer a sonogram, temporary help such as maternity and baby clothing, perhaps help with rent, and sometimes a job. In this case, the combined effort saved the lives of a set of twins and spared the mother the emotional scars that often follow an abortion.
