surgical instruments 1Pro-life lawmakers in Nebraska are working on passage of a dismemberment bill with help from pro-life activists who are determined to save unborn children.

Last week, there were not enough votes to end a filibuster by Democrats, so the issue was expected to have been lost for the session. But a legislative maneuver has revived the bill.

Karen Bowling of Nebraska Family Alliance says the group is working hard to defeat another filibuster in the state’s unicameral legislature.

“We are hopeful,” Bowling tells OneNewsNow. “We’re going to need to have at least 33 votes to overcome another filibuster.”

One state senator is wavering, she adds, so Bowling is hopeful to add several more votes.

The filibuster vote is expected Tuesday and, if successful, debate will open up with a vote on Thursday, the final day of the legislative session.

“When we first started this, we didn't have the needed votes,” Bowling advises, but people are speaking out about the brutal abortion procedure in which the arms and legs of the fetus are removed. The procedure is known as "D and E," or dilation and evacuation.

A description of the procedure, which can be found here, describes removal of the "tissue" by use of a vaccum then forceps, and finally a curved instrument is used to scrape away any remaining "tissue."
