abortion activists protestingA pro-life group in Virginia is trying to head off an anticipated political onslaught by liberals that could guarantee a "right to abortion" in the state constitution.

In the last election, pro-abortion Democrats took control of the Virginia General Assembly and got rid of major pro-life gains and passed pro-abortion laws. Olivia Turner of the Virginia Society for Human Life explains the implications of actions taken by Virginia lawmakers.

"There are [now] no standards of care that protect mothers and unborn children with regard to information or standards of care for abortion facilities or opportunities to get information that could give mothers a chance to make life-altering decisions that affect herself and her child," Turner expresses.

Those laws went into effect July 1, but Turner is convinced liberal Democrats are not through with their unwinding handywork.

"The big attack that we expect in the 2021 General Assembly, while the pro-abortion majority still has control, [will] be another attempt to pass an amendment to the Virginia Constitution that would essentially in essence give us – quote – a right to abortion under the law," she explains.

If such an amendment passes, it would be virtually impossible to pass meaningful legislation to protect life, codifying Roe v. Wade into the Virginia Constitution and eliminating any and all restrictions on abortion up until birth.

The Virginia Society for Human Life is calling on the state's residents to sign a petition on its website opposing any attempt to amend the state constitution.
