A Memphis, Tennessee outfit that does abortions is trying to develop another revenue stream.
The CHOICES Memphis Center for Reproductive Health has terminated preborn babies for decades, and in 2020, they hope to expand their services by opening a birthing facility. Diana Meinweiser of Tennessee Right to Life believes CHOICES is attracting a new revenue stream, but considering the fact that pregnant women can get better services elsewhere for a bargain, the business move does not make much sense.
"They go for all of their maternity care at the Morning Center," Meinweiser reports. "It's all free, and then the girls deliver at a hospital. Now they have to pay for the delivery at the hospital, but they don't have to pay for any prenatal care."
Women would have to pay for the delivery at the abortuary, too. So the pro-lifer believes women with unplanned pregnancies would do well to go to pro-life pregnancy centers that provide many services free of charge.
"The pregnancy centers help with education; a lot of them help with mental healthcare if they need it," Meinweiser explains. "We work with other counselors. We do a lot of referring because there's so much Christian help out there that as a pregnancy center we can refer to other Christian agencies."
The pro-life centers can also assist with clothing, jobs, and other needs.
In opening its new birthing center in the spring, Meinwieser believes that CHOICES is actually trying to qualify for Title X money from the federal government. But pro-lifers find it odd that any healthcare facility would kill babies on one side of a hall and welcome them to the world on the other.
