I am the pro-life generationPro-lifers are paying a visit today to members of the Birmingham City Council.

CEC For Life, an outreach of the Charismatic Episcopal Church, is teaming with Students for Life UAB to attend the Birmingham City Council Meeting.

Sam Castillo of Students for Life will make a statement on behalf of the college students in the city of Birmingham who say they will be directly targeted by a new Planned Parenthood building.

CEC for Life will also make a statement and present each council member with a copy of The Birmingham Proclamation, declaring the Alabama city to be a sanctuary city for the unborn. More than 230 pastors from a variety of churches in the Birmingham area have signed the proclamation.

"We're trying to get the word out to our city that there are people that care about the sanctity of human life, that care about women, that care about the black community," Reverend Terry Gensemer of the Charismatic Episcopal Church recently told American Family Radio's "The Hour of Intercession" program. "I'm sure you're aware of the amount of the black community affected by the issue of abortion."

One of those pastors is a survivor of the 16th Street Baptist church bombing of 1963.

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin (D) has already been given a copy of the proclamation.

"He informed us beforehand that he did not agree with us on this and that he was very pro-choice," said Gensemer. "We said, 'We are presenting this from pastors from all walks of the Christian life -- black churches, white churches, Anglican, Catholic, Baptist -- you name it. Presbyterian, non-denominational churches -- we believe this as shepherds of our city,' and we were very polite and respectful."
