keep abortion legal abortion kills signsThe founder of a Christian ministry that believes every person is created in the image of God says states could decide the abortion issue if they were willing to thwart the federal government.

Two Democrat candidates for president, Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren, have vowed to pass a Roe v Wade law that would legalize abortions nationwide. Mat Staver, founder of Liberty Counsel, tells OneNewsNow the U.S. Supreme Court must decide whether to overturn the 1973 ruling and whether the states should handle the issue.

"On the other hand, if they address the question that the Supreme Court said specifically it was not going to address … it could have a fundamentally different outcome, and that is whether the child is a person under the 14th amendment," Staver explains.

And since medical evidence clearly shows that a baby is a human being at conception, he says it would not matter what Congress does, because abortion would be illegal.

"Frankly I think it's time for states to actually defy the federal government on the issue of the most important thing in our time, and that is the humanity of the unborn child," the Liberty Counsel founder submits. "It is not a right under the Constitution, and the Constitution cannot be used to force states to kill children within the borders of the state."

He points out that states have defied federal law by establishing sanctuary cities and legalizing marijuana.
