surgical instruments 2An activist pro-life group is warning people about an abortion clinic in Florida where an abortionist apparently neglected to make sure he was doing the right procedure on the right patient.

Abortionist Harvey Craig Roth has been taken to task by the Florida Board of Medicine for an abortion at A Women's Center of Hollywood, an abortion facility. Operation Rescue's Cheryl Sullenger explains that Roth performed a surgical abortion – on the wrong woman.

"The woman who had come into that clinic had requested a medication abortion, and [Roth] didn't bother to check her name, he didn't bother to check what procedure she wanted," the pro-lifer explains. "He said he was going to give her a little medicine, which is what she thought she was going to get in the first place."

That would have been the first two pills for a medical abortion. Instead, however, she was anesthetized and underwent a surgical abortion.

The Sun-Sentinel quotes a member of the Board of Medicine saying Roth is "lacking any sense of responsibility for the true care of the patient in the facility …. You can't just walk in and say 'I'm here to do a certain procedure.'"

Sullenger concurs: "The board was so shocked by his attitude and by what had happened at that clinic that the head of the medical board in Florida actually referred the abortion clinic to the licensing agency for further investigation."

Operation Rescue argues that Roth ought to be suspended or his license revoked because he has a history of medical malpractice and a previous disciplinary action against him for mishandling drugs.

The Florida Board of Medicine has told Roth to pay over $13,000 and take a risk management course.
