Oklahoma Congressman Tom Cole (R) had introduced an amendment to preserve the conscience rights the Trump administration adopted for medical professionals who do not want to be death-dealers. But as Carol Tobias of the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) tells OneNewsNow, the Democrats are challenging that preservation.

"The appropriations bill would repeal conscience protections for healthcare providers who do not want to participate in abortions," she explains. “Unfortunately the Cole amendment lost, so the bill would still strip away conscience rights if this would actually become law."

Current rules also ban abortion providers from recieving Title X funds, or grants for family planning or sex education.

"The House Democrats want to strip that provision so that one place, one site, can receive Title X family planning funds and also perform abortions," the pro-lifer details.

Alabama House member Martha Roby (R) submitted an amendment to retain those rules, but the House Democrat majority defeated it. A vote to strip away the Mexico City policy that bars the giving of tax dollars to organizations that promote or provide abortions is expected this week. Regardless of its form, senators are likely to turn the bill down, and President Trump has vowed to veto it.
