Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) horrified the nation earlier this year when he signed a bill legalizing abortion through the moment of birth. Now a bill has been introduced in both houses of the New York Legislature that would force pro-life pregnancy help centers to state and post signs that they do not do abortions or refer for them.

"This legislation on pregnancy centers compelling speech will be destroyed literally by our attorney in quick order if it's passed," asserts Chris Slattery, head of EMC Frontline Pregnancy Centers in New York City.

Slattery, Chris (EMC)That is what happened eight years ago when New York City passed an ordinance forcing the pro-life centers to use certain language that would limit their ability to convince women to give their babies life.

"We went through years of court battle in federal court, and ultimately we were victorious in overturning speech restrictions back in 2014," Slattery tells OneNewsNow. "Then last summer in the U.S. Supreme Court, we saw another compelled speech legislation in California overturned."

Still, lawmakers are considering bills that would cripple the use of ultrasounds in pro-life centers and legalize assisted suicide.

"This government in New York is the most hostile to common sense and to pro-life positions that we've ever seen," Slattery concludes.
