A prominent pro-life group has uncovered additional instances in which abortion patients were rushed to hospitals from a facility owned and operated by a woman known as the "Abortionist to the Stars."
The clinic is the Pro-Choice Medical Center (pictured) in Beverly Hills, California, which does abortions through all nine months of pregnancy. Dr. Josepha Seletz, the clinic's owner, is reportedly one of only a few abortionists in the U.S. with the experience needed to successfully perform late-term abortions, which often involve dangerous complications.
Operation Rescue obtained heavily redacted recordings of two 911 calls within two weeks – from the Pro-Choice Medical Center – sending patients to hospitals. Spokeswoman Cheryl Sullenger tells OneNewsNow that her organization appealed and obtained more complete transcripts of the calls.
"And we could see why they were trying to cover up for this abortion clinic," she begins, "because what we found was that the two incidents both involved a potentially fatal complication to late-term abortions that we've been able to document previously and that we've seen other women die from."
According to Operation Rescue, that complication is Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation (DIC). Typically, coagulation occurs as bleeding stops – but when a patient's clotting agents are depleted, hemorrhaging continues resulting in DIC.
Sullenger explains that "when the hemorrhaging starts, the internal organs begin to break down and hemorrhage – and there comes a point of no return where that's not fixable anymore" and ultimately the patient dies.
The pro-lifer also reports that the clinic has a history of sending women to hospital emergency rooms post-abortion, and Operation Rescue is filing a complaint with the California Medical Board seeking an investigation and disciplinary action.
