"It's a promise that the president made on the campaign trail, and he needs to fulfill it now before pro-abortion candidates head to Washington in January," says Alison Howard Centofante, director of strategic communication at Live Action.

Centofante says there are better, safer, more holistic options than abortion and funding for abortion organizations like Planned Parenthood.

"The time is now to call the White House switchboard at (202) 456-1414 and demand a defunding of Planned Parenthood's taxpayer funds," she continues. "Congress has to make some serious funding decisions, so we would implore the president to not sign any funding bill that does not explicitly defund Planned Parenthood."

The president is aware of Live Action's recommendation, as members of the pro-life organization were recently at the White House to deliver a letter and meet with staff about the issue.

Portions of the letter, penned by Live Action founder and President Lila Rose, include:

"Taxpayers fund nearly 40 percent of Planned Parenthood's budget, allowing it to keep its doors open so its abortionists can commit over 320,000 abortions every year. While taxpayer dollars don't fund political campaigns directly, the over $500 million a year taxpayers are forced to give the abortion group allows Planned Parenthood's donors to direct their contributions to its political arms and political agenda. Planned Parenthood's focus is abortion and political gain, not women's healthcare."
