The measure – which senators are expected to vote on sometime this week –would defund the abortion giant for a year would only require 51 votes. Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, is confident about attaining that number. (See earlier story)

"The way other votes in the Senate have gone – previous votes we've gotten 54 votes, we only need 51 votes in this one – so we're very optimistic, we're very hopeful," he tells OneNewsNow. "And we think this will send a very strong message to Planned Parenthood that both the House and Senate are done with funding them."

Sedlak notes that the House has passed defunding measures several times but this would be a first for the Senate. That, he argues, would benefit voters.

Sedlak, Jim (American Life League)"... It would put [senators] on record and give the people back in [their] states a clear record of where all the senators stand on Planned Parenthood funding as they make their decisions for those that are up for re-election in 2016," says the pro-life spokesman.

Sedlak understands that President Obama is waiting to veto the bill, but points out he is in the Oval Office for only a little more than a year – and then things may change.
