Rep. Liz CheneyAn overwhelming majority of GOP voters support the removal of Rep. Liz Cheney from a key post according to a timely poll, and two-thirds remain convinced Joe Biden benefitted from a stolen election.

CBS News polled almost 1,000 Republicans for a poll in which 80% agreed with GOP leaders voting last week to oust Cheney from her leadership role in the House.

"I am very happy to see Liz Cheney out of the leadership,” Cathie Adams, a Texas-based conservative activist, says of the ouster. “Because in her role, [Cheney] was going to be giving a constant and continual barrage of anti-Trump propaganda.”

Cheney served as chairman of the House Republican Conference, which makes her No. 3 in House GOP leadership. The lawmaker held that position since her 2016 election but she voted to impeach President Trump and accused him of inciting the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

In the CBS poll, pollsters drilled down to learn why voters supported Cheney’s ouster: 69% said they agree she’s not on message with the party; 57% said she’s wrong about the 2020 presidential election; 52% said it was because she didn’t support Trump; and 34% said disloyalty deserves to be punished.

That vote tally marked the largest voter turnout rate since 1900, CBS News reported last year.

Barack Obama got 69.4 million votes in 2008, the previous record, and President Trump got 73.4 million votes on Election Day, more than 4.4 million more votes than Obama but 10 milllion fewer than Biden.

Back in 2016, Democrats publicly said Hillary Clinton was the victim of a stolen election. A week after that election, 33% of Democrats told a Washington Post-ABC News poll that Trump was not the legitimate president after he stunned the world with his win despite a disorganized campaign.

Two years later, in a 2018 poll, 85% of Democrats told Ipsos pollsters that Russia meddled in the election to help Donald Trump.

“[Cheney] does not feel that the election was stolen,” Adams tells One News Now. “But all of the evidence, I think, is there to show that but no court including the Supreme Court has heard the case."
