Portland riots - fireThe “blue” state of Oregon was among several “red” states to pick up a congressional seat thanks to shifting populations, and a resident of Oregon suspects the growth comes from fleeing Californians who will likely ruin their new home, too.

California made headlines in recent weeks when U.S. Census Bureau figures showed the most-populated state had finally lost enough residents to lose a U.S. House seat for the first time ever.

In neighboring Oregon, meanwhile, the state will now have six seats in Congress. U.S. Census figures show the current population stands at 4.2 million and has jumped 10% in a decade, Oregon Public Radio reported April 26.

The new House seat marks the first new seat for Oregon in 40 years.

According to AFR radio host Bryan Fischer, who lives in Oregon, the most likely cause of the growth is fed-up Californians fleeing north.

“You had a lot of people move up from California to Oregon,” he tells One News Now, “because the deterioration and decay is not as far advanced in Oregon."

Oregonians: Got back home!

Back in 2015, Oregonians shared their not-so-subtle feelings when anti-California stickers appeared on real estate signs in the Portland area.  Housing prices were soaring at the time due to bidding wars sparked by California buyers.

Leaving California (moving trailer)A year later, a Southern California transplant created buzz when he launched a GoFundMe page for moving expenses back to The Golden State when it became apparent fellow Oregonians were not “keen on Californians.”

Fischer warns that Oregon’s left-wing politics will eventually mirror those in California as evidenced by Portland, which is filled with “cultural rot,” he says.

Much like California, Portland has enjoyed population growth in recent years. The city is also overrun with a homeless population estimated at 12,000, and violent crime has skyrocketed at the same time the City of Portland dissolved a police task force that investigates gun crimes.

Bryan FischerViolent rioters fought Portland’s law enforcement officers for more than 100 days last year and cost $5 million in property damage.

More recently, Antifa activists recorded a veiled death threat against Ted Wheeler, Portland’s far-left mayor, who once blamed then-President Trump for creating “hate” in the city after a pro-Trump protester was assassinated on the street by an Antifa activist.

“Portland is a picture of what Oregon is becoming,” Fischer warns, “what Oregon is going to be.”
