Newsweek whacks Lincoln ProjectThe Lincoln Project, the now-disgraced anti-Trump group, is no longer a darling of the Left and deserves the fate that is coming, says a veteran of conservative politics.

Formed by prominent “Never-Trump” Republicans including Rick Wilson and John Weaver, The Lincoln Project relentlessly attacked and mocked the former president with slick attack ads and snarky social media posts.

It did so with the promise it stood for conservative principles but wanted Donald Trump out of the White House, and that effort was rewarded on Election Day.

But then came the inevitable next step for the socialist Left: What good is the Lincoln Project now that Donald Trump is gone?

Joe Biden & Donald TrumpAfter being praised by Democrats and the media, the group was tossed under the bus when stories about questionable spending and a tawdry sexual scandal began circulating in the media.

The New York Post, among other news outlets, reported in mid-February the PAC had raised approximately $90 million, and more than half of that flowed to political consulting firms operated by the group’s co-founders.

The sexual scandal all but crushed what remained of the Project after it was learned Weaver had sexually harassed numerous young men, and that story only got worse when his Project colleagues claimed ignorance. But some of them heard first-hand accusations that dated back several months.

“The new allegations against the Lincoln Project,” Newsweek summarized in its own February story, “have since raised questions about the group's financial and moral standing.”

Bauer

What the Lincoln Project accomplished, says Gary Bauer of Campaign for Working Families, is to rip off their Democrat contributors and possibly, in the case of Weaver, to possibly violate the law.

“If he or anybody else was guilty of breaking the law,” Bauer tells One News Now, “they need to be held accountable obviously."

A more-fitting name for The Lincoln Project, Bauer adds, is the John Wilkes Booth Project.
