Dems' 'unilateral attack' on elections part of radical agenda

Schumer and Pelosi at podiumA conservative political action organization is warning that if Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer have their way, America will no longer be a democratic republic.

The top legislative priority of the U.S. House Speaker and the U.S. Senate Majority Leader is to pass what they call the "For the People Act" – the House version (H.R.1) and the Senate version (S.1). The legislation would remove the constitutional authority of the individual states to run federal elections and put that power into the hands of those in the U.S. Congress and the administrative state.

Fox News reported late last month the "For the People Act" specifically would create automatic voter registration; bar states from prohibiting vote-by-mail allowances; require states to allow 15 days of early voting in federal elections; require states to allow same-day registration; and prohibit prosecution of ineligible voters if they claim it was a mistake.

AFA Action is one of the many conservative groups voicing strong opposition to the legislation. The group has labeled the two bills as "deceptive and destructive" in that they also would require nonprofits to disclose to the federal government the names of financial donors – which would then make the names available to the public and searchable on government websites, and the donors themselves targets of intimidation. In effect, says the group, the bills would "weaponize the Federal Election Commission against Americans" and use the force of government as a way to silence dissenting opinion.

Rob Chambers is vice president of AFA Action. Chambers says the "For the People Act" is not about the citizenry but about Democrats preserving and cementing political power.

Chambers

"This will be the end of free and fair elections," he bluntly predicts. "There's been no historic overreach like this in the United States – ever. This is a unilateral attack by Democrats to basically destroy the democratic republic and the republican form of election process in this country."

Continuing with his dire predictions, Chambers expects Democrats will find some "national crisis" every election moving forward.

"In 2020 you had the COVID crisis," he notes. "But we know full well that Democrats will not let any crisis – even a manufactured crisis, supposedly – go to waste. They're going to use anything. Somebody's going to get a hang nail and they're going to say 'Hey, look we've got a crisis here.'"

The conservative pundit says Democrats would then be able to use the crisis to remove election safeguards, thereby making elections more susceptible to voter fraud.

In an earlier story, an attorney told One News Now that the legislation – should it become law – "would fundamentally transform civic engagement and civic participation in America for the foreseeable future. It would be horrendous."
