A conservative black activist says not only does he believe a poll claiming 46% of black voters support President Donald Trump but adds the polling figure comes as no surprise.
Last week, a daily tracking poll conducted by Rasmussen Reports showed 46% of likely black voters approve of President Trump, OneNewsNow reported in a weekend story.
That polling figure is a shocking one because black voters overwhelmingly vote for Democrats after being warned by Democrat politicians for generations that the Republican Party is the party of rich, racist white men who don’t care about the poor.
Jesse Lee Peterson, founder and president of BOND, tells OneNewsNow that President Trump is reaching the black community despite the liberal media’s best efforts to keep lying to black voters.
“So I'm not surprised by that,” he says of Rasmussen's poll. “And it might even be more than that before we vote next week.”
In a July story, OneNewsNow reported on rising black support for Trump citing a Rasmussen poll that found 21% of black voters told pollsters they support his re-election. That double-digit figure was, by itself, newsworthy since black support for Republicans typically hovers in single digits.
U.S. Sen. Tim Scott (R-South Carolina), the only black GOP senator, said over the summer it was “game over” for Joe Biden if 14% of black voters cast a ballot for Trump.
Scott (pictured at right), who has publicly voiced frustration at times with Trump’s tone and rhetoric, has nonetheless been praised by the President after the senator introduced “Opportunity Zones” to help small businesses in poverty-stricken minority neighborhoods.
Scott has also praised President Trump for addressing prison reform by signing the First Step Act; for securing permanent funding for historically black colleges and universities; and for overseeing a pre-pandemic economy that posted the record-breaking unemployment rates for blacks.
In June, Scott introduced a justice reform bill that outlawed choke holds and no-knock warrants only to witness Democratic senators block the bill from being considered. Democrats had demanded the GOP majority allow them to introduce amendments, which Scott agreed to as a compromise for debating the bill, but the bill was killed anyway.
In a blistering floor speech, Sen. Scott went on to say black communities are the “most loyal” among Democrat voting blocs but predicted that was changing “because in monopolies you start devaluing your customer.”
According to Peterson, Trump is a “shoo-in” on Election Day if blacks leave the Democratic Party “plantation” and cast a ballot for a second term.
Last week's Rasmussen poll also showed Trump with an overall approval rating of 51%.
