Ihssane Leckey websiteIn a monumental example of clueless irony, a refugee-turned-Massachusetts-congressional-candidate intends to go to Capitol Hill to dismantle the American institutions that brought her success.

Ihssane Leckey spent her early years in poverty and Islamic oppression in Morocco. At age 20 she came to America, where she became the first person in her family to graduate from college and started a career as a Federal Reserve system regulator.

Now she is a Democrat running for Congress and wants to make some fundamental changes to the country. Last week, Leckey tweeted:

I came to America with nothing. In ten years, I went from mopping restaurant floors to taking on the biggest banks on Wall Street. I'm running for Congress to dismantle every oppressive system that denies us the basic necessities to live.

Political pundit Jeff Crank says he is astounded at the lack of awareness.

“It's cognitive dissonance,” he observes, “no question about it: America's great, so let's dismantle it.”

That point of view mirrors the rise of Rep. Ocasio-Cortez, the bartender-turned-congresswoman who famously ousted a longtime lawmaker to win the 14th District seat that includes the Bronx and Queens. The congresswoman famously chased away a proposed Amazon headquarters from her district, chasing away well-paying jobs, too, but she later defended a cost-of-living raise, which was eventually shelved, for Congress.

Days after winning office last year, the self-described “Democratic Socialist” complained she didn’t have the money to find an apartment in Washington, D.C. until her congressional salary kicks in. Financial disclosure forms showed she had at least $15,000 in her bank account, however.

Crank says Leckey is trafficking in the same divisive rhetoric that her party has been using for decades.

“It's really what has fueled the left for many years, if you look back at campaigns,” he advises. “Republicans are going to throw granny off the cliff. They're cutting Medicare. They don't like blacks. They don't like Hispanics. This has been their playbook for years.”

At some point, he predicts, reasonable people are bound to see what the Democrat Party is doing to America and push back.
