BLM logo Black Lives MatterMarxism has historically attached itself to a variety of causes to further its authoritarian goals, says a political science professor, and the Black Lives Matter group represents a modern-day example of that effort.

While the controversial group is enjoying near universal praise from academia, liberal politicians, and liberal media outlets, others are calling attention to the official BLM website and goals such as “disrupting the Western-prescribed nuclear family” and other nakedly Marxist language.

News outlets such as The New York Post have also reported on a 2015 interview with BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors, who assures a friendly interviewer she is a “trained Marxist” along with co-founder Alicia Garza.

“We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories,” Cullors told the Real News Network.

In an interview on American Family Radio, historian Paul Kengor said Cullors’ own words should be an eye-opener for people who are praising the group but oppose Marxism’s ruthless ideology.

George Floyd protestCullors’ fellow Marxists know what those phrases mean, the professor explained, because Marxists throughout history have pushed for overthrowing the West by changing its religious, free-market culture.

“If you point this out to people on the Left, they just get angry at you,” Kengor told show host Sandy Rios. “It’s not going to convince them because they are emotionally and ideologically attached to this.”

Kengor, who teaches politics and government at Grove City College, has emerged as an expert historian on Communism and the Cold War after researching and publishing books on both topics.

A new book on Marxism is set for publication in August.

The goal of Marxism and its followers, the professor told Rios, is to attach its ideology to any movement whose goal is to disrupt the current social order, and he read from the Communist Manifesto to make the point:

Emancipation Memorial (Lincoln)Communists everywhere support every revolutionary movement against the existing social and political order of things.

The same writing also calls for a “forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions,” Kengor further explained, and that is why Americans have witnessed protesters moving from protesting George Floyd’s death to toppling statues of Christopher Columbus within only a few weeks.

“What do Washington and Jefferson have to do with this? What does Lincoln that have to do with this?”  the professor asked rhetorically. “All of this is about tearing down the existing social and political order.”
