Democrats (lapel buttons)An Illinois political race clearly demonstrates that there is no room in the Democratic Party for pro-life advocates.

For the last 15 years, pro-life Rep. Dan Lipinski (D-Ill.) has served as a United States representative for the 3rd Congressional District in Illinois, but he was ousted in the primary this week by extremely liberal pro-abortion candidate, Marie Newman.

Lipinski conceded when Wednesday night when Lipinski received 47.1% of the vote to his 44.7% – difference of 2,476 votes,” according to the Chicago Sun Times. The 53-year-old pro-life Democrat won in the 2018 primary by 2,145 votes.

Kristi Hamrick of Students for Life Action (SFLA) told OneNewsNow that major funding flowed into Newman’s campaign that touted abortion as a so-called “reproductive right” for women.

“Dan Lipinski faced funding from NARAL [Pro-choice America], Planned Parenthood Action, Emily's List – a real and powerful and well-funded cohort of abortion supporters,” Hamrick explained. “They do not want to see pro-life Democrats – especially at the national level.

The 3rd Congressional District has been heavily Democrat in the first place, which made it more difficult for Lipinski to sell his pro-life message.

“But NARAL had targeted Lipinski for his support of the Hyde Amendment and especially for his role in strategic votes – which, in actuality, are common sense and common decency,” Hamrick contended. “There was no room, they said, for that.”

The outcome also demonstrates what the Democratic Party has said all along – that it is mandatory for its office seekers to support abortion through the ninth month of pregnancy.

Hamrick also stressed that Lipinski's loss also proves that pro-lifers in the Democratic Party are an endangered species.
