The head of a messianic Jewish ministry says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's reelection tomorrow is not a sure thing.
The final Smith Research poll on Thursday predicted that Netanyahu's Likud Party will win 33 seats in the Knesset, with rival Blue and White getting 32 and the rest going to smaller parties. But in the important outlay of political blocs, the poll showed the Right-Center bloc with 57 seats and the Center-Left with 55. While other recent polls are a bit more favorable toward the prime minister, there is a sentiment that Tuesday's election will come to a stalemate, which would once again make it difficult for Netanyahu to form a governing coalition.
Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries and host of "Understanding the Times" on American Family Radio, is concerned about Netanyahu's future as prime minister.
"It certainly could be that Blue and White Party. It could somebody even further to the left," she comments. "I know that's hard to believe, but anything could happen."
And Markell says there could be a biblical reason why Netanyahu might lose.
"We're so late in the biblical timeline for End Times events. Just for illustration, a new leader could be incompetent or have a mindset that would harm Israel," she poses. "[If] Netanyahu is out of the picture, the Ezekiel 38 and 39 coming against Israel could get inspired, because their leadership is suddenly weaker."
So Markell is hoping for the best.
"I'm kind of anticipating the worst, but I'm still hoping and praying that God's going to pull this out for Benjamin Netanyahu. He's a good man,” she concludes. "He really is."
She does, however, have her doubts about whether the prime minister will follow through on West Bank annexation plans.
