Democrats returning to D.C. from summer recess are too obsessed with impeaching President Trump to focus on the country, says a Republican lawmaker.
"When you're solely focused on going after the president, you can't do what's best for the country,” said Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). “And that's been the problem with the Democrats."
Jordan, who made his comments to Fox News, was reacting to Democrats resuming their political drumbeat of impeachment as they returned to the nation’s capital at the same time far-left, pro-impeachment protesters disrupted a dinner in San Francisco where House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was receiving a lifetime achievement award.
Pelosi has resisted calls from her Democratic colleagues to get behind impeachment.
Jordan says Democrats are refusing to call in DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz to discuss his “scathing” report on former FBI chief Jim Comey.
“That's ridiculous,” Jordan responds. “So they're so focused on impeachment they're missing, I think, the important things that we should be addressing."
Jordan also told the cable news channel is he constantly asked by constituents when someone will be held accountable for the runaway Trump-collusion investigation and for Hillary Clinton and her email server scandal.
