Pelosi rips Trump for what Obama did to kids in '14

Pelosi's straight-arm policyHouse Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) hypocritically blamed President Donald Trump over conditions in the border crisis, claiming Democrats would never “put children in cages” – even though former President Barack Obama did exactly that in 2014, when it was his policies that separated illegal immigrant youth from their parents … and he built the quarters to do so.

Democrats’ longstanding refusal to give the president the $5 billion he needs to end the border crisis and build a continuous secure wall spanning the entire United States-Mexico border resulted in a new Democrat-House-majority bill proposing a $4.5 billion emergency spending package with much going to free provisions for illegals breaking over the border – a bill that unsurprisingly passed Tuesday night 230–195, which Trump will likely veto because it does not fund needed border security measures.

Pot calling the kettle black

Pelosi asserted that border security funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would not be met and made Trump out to be a merciless oppressor of children – even though his Democratic predecessor in the White House conducted border operations for immigrant family detainment the same way.

"[ICE’s actions are] outside the circle of civilized human behavior," Pelosi addressed the House press corps at the weekly press conference in Washington, D.C., according to TheBlaze. "It's ridiculous to think that the way to protect the border is to put children in cages. Democrats have taken full responsibility for the border, but we don't think we have to put children in cages to do it."

The California Democrat also responded to Trump’s recent tweet criticizing her “dream” to have open borders.

"No matter what my dream is, [Trump] would still be there," Pelosi quipped. “[He is not capable of exhibiting] civilized human behavior."

Check your facts

Back in April, Trump set the record straight regarding the border’s family separation policy – stressing that it originated under the Obama administration.

“President Obama separated the children – by the way – just so you understand,” Trump said in April, according to RealClearPolitics. “President Obama separated the children. Those cages that were shown – I think they were very inappropriate. They were built by President Obama's administration, not by Trump.”

While exposing Democrats’ hypocrisy on the matter, he explained why Democrats’ “come one, come all” border policy simply doesn’t work – and that illegally breaking over the border cannot be rewarded with accommodations, which essentially invites more.

“President Obama had child separation – take a look,” Trump continued at the time. “The press knows it, you know it, we all know it. I'm the one who changed that. I'll tell you something: once you don't have [family separation], that's why you see many more people coming. They are coming like it's a picnic – like 'let's go to Disneyland.' President Obama separated children – I was the one who changed it.”

Setting things straight

Conservative commentator Laura Ingraham also pointed out Pelosi’s hypocrisy, asking why she and Democrats remained silent when Obama faced similar accusations for separating illegal immigrant families.

"But where were the Democrats?” Ingraham posed, according to Fox News. “Where w[as] their outrage before Trump came into office?"

She asked this while a clip of Obama speaking played in the background.

"Do not send your children to the borders,” Obama stated in a 2014 interview with ABC News, which was replayed by Fox. “If they do make it, they will get sent back, more importantly – they may not make it."

Ingraham then proceeded to condemn Pelosi and the Democratic Party for providing a false narrative to the public – as if Democrats’ previous policy was to provide loving humane care for border-breaking illegal families.

"Now, do any of you remember Nancy Pelosi firing off angry tweets in demanding a change in Obama policy or criticizing these allegedly inhumane conditions?" Ingraham demanded. "Don't be deceived by the media coverage where the motive images you are seeing because it happened years ago, and the Democrats were silent."

Hillary chiming in …

Besides Pelosi, twice-failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton also tried to paint herself as a champion of compassion and humanitarian charity when she took to Twitter over the weekend with the tired mantra to “save the children” (on the southern border).

"[C]hip in [and support various organizations who are] doing critical work to defend the rights of immigrant and refugee children," Clinton tweeted Sunday. “I've been heartbroken and horrified to read the news of children at the border being detained in appalling conditions. No soap, no toothbrushes, no beds. Not enough food, babies being forced to take care of babies, everyone sick.”

She listed off a number of groups for Americans to send their money to – not mentioning the billions of dollars of Americans’ taxes House Democrats already want to spend in their recently passed bill.

“It's hard to process that our country is committing such abuses – and against children – in our name,” Clinton said in a following tweet. “But let's not stop at outrage or heartbreak.”

She went on to advertise for numerous ultra-left pro-open-borders groups – including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project and Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES).

“There are amazing groups at the border and beyond doing critical work to defend the rights of immigrant and refugee children,” she tweeted again. “If you can, please chip in to support a few of them today.”

Clinton then took aim at Trump.

“We can help these children get the help they deserve,” she continued in another Twitter post. “And we can send a message to the administration that we won't stand for this. We just won’t. #CloseTheCamps.”

Notice the word “Camps” in Clinton’s hashtag – sending the message that self-described socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) was right in saying illegal immigrant detention centers on the border are “exactly” the same as concentration camps – where million Jews were exterminated by Adolf Hitler’s Nazi Germany in World War II.

She ended her barrage on Trump and Republicans by following Pelosi’s queue and blaming them for following through with a border policy of child separation – the one that was originally implemented by her former boss, Obama.

“Two-year-olds in detention. Children forced to take care of other children. Not enough food or water,” Clinton continued with another tweet. “Demand accountability from your Republican representatives for allowing this administration to cage children and keep them in unconscionable conditions.”

Just like Ingraham pointed out Pelosi’s hypocrisy, the conservative media pointed out Clinton’s.

“Here's the real question: where was Clinton back in 2014 when the same thing was taking place along our southern border?” Townhall posed. “Where was Clinton when Murrieta, California, residents stood up to the Department of Homeland Security and turned away buses of illegal aliens being dumped at short-term detention facilities?”

A clarification of what happened during Obama’s last term was given.

“The same exact thing was taking place five years ago,” Townhall’s Beth Baumann stressed. “Hundreds of people – primarily women and children – were being stuffed into a short-term processing facility designed to hold a maximum of 25 people. There were no amenities. No showers. One or two toilets. No beds. Just a simple metal bench.”

And it was not as though the conditions under Obama were not revealed – the only difference is that few in the mainstream media wanted to say anything negative about the former president.

“Border Patrol agents spoke out about what was taken place,” Baumann recounted. “The biggest whistleblower, Ron Zermeno – the Health and Safety Director of National Border Patrol Council Local 1613 at the time – brought these atrocities to the national media. He talked about the scabies and various outbreaks taking place. In return, he was placed under a gag order in an attempt to hide exactly what was taking place. Where was Hillary's outrage then?”

Clinton was criticized for continuing a false narrative that she knows is untrue.

“It's very hypocritical for a leader in the Democratic Party to use what's taking place at the southern border to act as though President Trump is responsible for what's taking place,” Baumann argued. “The reality? This is a monumental, colossal failure that's been brewing for decades. To act like this is something new is not only disgusting, but it's political pandering at its finest. Using children for political gain is sick. Shame on you, Hillary.”
