FBI transcript renders Mueller probe illegitimate

Robert Mueller new picAfter reviewing [while in Congress] a transcript from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) about its interaction with a 2016 Trump campaign associate, former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) changed his position and quit backing former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation findings.

“I was supportive of [Robert] Mueller,” Gowdy shared in an interview on Fox News’ Sunday Morning Futures. “I was supportive of the idea to initiate, to investigate what Russia did, but when I saw this transcript, it actually changed my perspective.”

After further review …

Gowdy discovered that not all was revealed in the Mueller probe – especially concerning President Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign associate, George Papadopoulos.

“The FBI claims Papadopoulos was the catalyst for its counterintelligence investigation of the Trump campaign, which led to Mueller’s special counsel probe,” WND explained. “Mueller’s team focused on the former Trump adviser’s meetings with Maltese professor Joseph Mifsud, Australian diplomat Alexander Downer and Stefan Halper, a former Cambridge professor who was identified as an FBI informant.”

As the FBI document resurfaces, Mueller’s probe –  the former special counsel’s assessment of things, which has been regarded by Democrats as Gospel truth – is now regarded as more than questionable – especially amongstthe GOP.

“Republicans have alluded to the mystery transcript, which is believed to be from an FBI informant’s interactions with George Papadopoulos,” the Daliy Caller reported. “Gowdy has previously said [in a May interview with Fox that] the transcript is a potential ‘game-changer’[if ever released] in terms of the public’s opinion of the FBI’s investigation of the Trump campaign.”

If the documents weren’t previously concealed, it would have been a whole other story – giving Democrats less to sink their teeth into as they maneuver to dig up any dirtthey can in their seemingly endless anti-Trump impeachment campaign.

“Gowdy said Sunday the mysterious transcripts were not provided to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC), which approved four FBI surveillance warrants against Carter Page – another Trump campaign adviser,” the Daily Caller’s Chuck Ross recounted. “The applications cited information from the unverified Steele dossier and also mentioned Papadopoulos.Republicans have accused the FBI of misleading the FISC by withholding details of the information gathered in its investigation of Trump & Co.”

When recently speaking on the topic, the former Republican congressman noted that Obama’s FBI was anything but bipartisan in its Trump probe.

“Gowdy went on to describe what he says is a pattern of bias at the FBI against the Trump campaign,” Ross recalled. “He pointed to Peter Strzok and Lisa Page – the FBI officials who exchanged anti-Trump text messages while working on the Russia probe.”

The representative from the Palmetto State insisted that there is only one way to look at the FBI’s handling of the matter – heavily slanted to the left.

“When you have exculpatory information and you don’t share it with the court, when you give two different kinds of defensive briefings to the candidates depending on who you like and who you don’t, then your bias begins to impact the investigation,” Gowdy told Fox Sunday. “That’s what I thought when I saw the transcript, but your viewers should be entitled to make up their own minds.”

No more leg to stand on

Despite Democrats’ insistence that Trump’s collusion with Russia undermined former first lady Hillary Clinton’s second bid for the presidency, evidence continues to contradict their claim.

“The special counsel’s report undercut the premise of the FBI’s initial probe of the Trump campaign,” Ross stressed. “Mueller – the special counsel – said in the report that prosecutors failed to establish that the campaign conspired with Russia to influence the election. The report also said that there was no evidence that Trump associates acted as agents of Russia.”

In fact, the collusion argument has been struck down again and again.

“Papadopoulos pleaded guilty in the investigation to lying about the timing of his interactions with Mifsud – the Maltese professor,” Ross added. “Papadopoulos told the FBI in an interview on Jan. 27, 2017 that Mifsud had told him during a meeting in London in April 2016 that he had learned that Russia had ‘dirt’ on Clinton in the form of ‘thousands’ of her emails.”

The former Trump associate’s testimony will continue to be a thorn in the side of Democrats’ Russian collusion argument they refuse to abandon.

“Papadopoulos has maintained he did not tell anyone on the Trump campaign about Mifsud’s remarks and that he did not handle, see or disseminate any Clinton emails,” Ross impressed. “He admitted to making false statements when he claimed that he met with Mifsud prior to joining the Trump team in March 2016.”

Besides the FBI’s Strzok’s and Page’s revealing email communications essentially saying they’d do all they could to keep/get Trump out of the White House, it was emphasized by Gowdy that former FBI Director James Comey and former CIA Director John O. Brennan had it out for the beleaguered Republican, as well.

“Brennan and Comey – the only thing they seem to share is a hatred for Donald Trump,” Gowdy told Fox News in May. “It’s going to be interesting if they begin to turn on one another. [Comey has] a better argument than Brennan, based on what I’ve seen.”
