A Christian educator and pro-family activist hopes "golden boy" Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's sinking poll numbers indicate his coming defeat this October.
Election polls suggest that the ultra-liberal Trudeau could become the first prime minister to lose power after a single majority mandate since the 1930s. When he was elected in 2015, many Canadians regarded him as a political golden boy who would carry on the legacy of his father, Pierre Trudeau, who led the country for 15 years.
But according to a recent Nanos Research poll, Trudeau's ruling Liberals have lost six percentage points since the start of the year, ceding the lead to the rival Conservatives.
Dr. Charles McVety, president of Canada Christian College, says Trudeau's sinking numbers could lead to a Conservative victory.
"That would be a breath of fresh air after the disaster of this golden boy who hates Christians, who hates evangelicals, who says we are the worst of Canadians," comments Dr. McVety. "He passes laws that force you to sign on that you will support abortion if you want a job. He is just outrageous. He has damaged our economy incredibly. Our oil industry is dying on the vines. It's outrageous what this man is doing, and we just hope and pray that this carries all the way to October and that he is defeated and we get a Conservative government."
Trudeau also remains mired in a scandal over alleged interference in a corporate corruption case that led to the resignations of two cabinet members.
