Alexandria Ocasio-CortezThe latest Gallup poll reveals that the public’s opinion of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has plummeted, as the socialist Democrat’s ignorance on issues and shocking ultra-left stances continue to make more and more Americans fearful about the potential damage she can do in Washington.

Before the young “rock star” candidate rocked the world by defeating 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) at the ballot box last November, American negativity toward the self-proclaimed socialist was relatively low, but after her numerous controversial gaffs and oblivious comments exposing her inexperience and dangerous worldview, more Americans are becoming wary about the destructive path on which the left-leaning representative could lead America.

Confidence in AOC already hitting the skids …

Since Americans were surveyed in early September, a shocking upward shift in their negative opinion toward AOC has been discovered, as Gallup’s new poll indicates that the millennial Democrat is scaring off many once-impressed left-leaning sympathizers.

“According to the [September 2018] poll, 24 percent had a favorable view, 26 held a negative view, and 50 percent said they had never heard of or did not have an opinion of Ocasio-Cortez,” the NTK Network gleaned from the earlier poll. “[But] by late February 2019, Ocasio-Cortez won the general election, was sworn in, and those numbers changed dramatically, [as] the most recent Gallup poll showed 31 percent of respondents now have a favorable view of her, but 41 percent said they have a negative view, and only 29 percent said they had no opinion or hadn’t heard of her. In other words, her negative numbers shot up 15 percentage points in less than six months.”

These numbers showing a 10-percent dip in AOC’s net favorability are a great concern to many of her liberal socialist supporters who offer the Democrat their unconditional support.

And the results are no fluke, as a Fox News Poll conducted in February rendered her a -13 point net favorability rating, with 39 percent rating her unfavorably, next to just 26 percent who viewed her favorably.

Today, it appears that the controversial loose-lipped politician’s unbridled radical stances in issues is repelling Democrats, Republicans and independents, alike.

“While it’s true that a big factor in Ocasio-Cortez’s drop in approval is Republicans solidifying their negative views, independents have also turned against the New York Democrat,” NTK explained. “She held a net positive rating (+2) among independents in September, [but] by February, that rating dropped 7 points to a net negative rating of -5.”

Even though the accumulating lack of confidence in the outspoken socialist might not put a dent in her chances for reelection in the ultra-left state of New York, it could greatly impede her ability to work out her liberal agenda while serving in Congress -- especially as she continues to repel more and more of her leftist colleagues.

“How Americans at large view Ocasio-Cortez will likely not factor much in her future representing Queens and the Bronx in Congress,” Gallup pointed out. “But given the national platform she’s attained, her ratings may matter more as her career progresses, and as she attempts to pass sweeping legislation like the New Green Deal she has sponsored in the House.”

Scary stances …

From defending anti-Semitism displayed by her Muslim colleagues in the House to her ultra-environmentalist agenda, AOC’s wide-eyed eagerness to jump into controversial issues and blurt out radical ideas shocking to most, appear to be her trademark – just months after being elected into office.

“She’s pushing for the Green New Deal (or scam), which is the Americanized version of the Great Leap Forward,” Townhall pointed out. “The elimination of the combustion engine, economic assistance for the lazy who don’t want to work, the mass genocide of cows because they fart too much, and the upgrading of every building in America to fit some energy efficient code, along with the destruction of structures that cannot be upgraded. Oh, and we’re going to get off fossil fuels in a decade, have a federal jobs guarantee, free college, and Medicare for All. It’s a $90+ trillion project aimed at one thing: the destruction of the United States of America.”

Even though her ultra-leftist views are still embraced by many deep-blue Democrats, her reckless nature and rash remarks are making many in all parties concerned about her potential to lead America into a downward spiral.

“The left loves her; she’s one of its many faces on the Hill, [and] she also fights back on social media, stands by her positions, and couldn’t care less what the right thinks about her,” Townhall’s Matt Vespa asserted. “She has grassroots gusto as well, [and] in some ways, AOC is the left-wing version of Donald Trump, which I know has some folks worried about when she approaches the age where she can run for president.”

Rashness killing her popularity

It is argued that AOC’s insistence on chiming in on issues she knows little about – or just her willingness to emotionally vent on issues she is passionate about – is burying her young political career.

“Pushing plans that are unaffordable, defending anti-Semites and chasing Amazon away from New York – which would’ve created jobs – is one way to kill your approval numbers,” Vespa contended. “Also, going after organizations that had nothing to do with horrible tragedies, like the recent shooting attacks in New Zealand, where gunmen killed close to 50 people at two separate mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand. AOC just had to do her part as a left-winger and take a swipe at the National Rifle Association … because in whack lefty land, they’re the personification of evil, though they’re one of the oldest civil rights organizations in this country.”

Evidence of the social Democrats’ unbridled eagerness to turn world events into a platform to push her agenda and attack her enemies was witnessed in the wake of the recent New Zealand mass shooting.

“The New York lawmaker condemned the fatal attack on Twitter, focusing her message on the American gun group [NRA],” The Hill noted

While citing fairly recent deadly shootings at a Pittsburgh synagogue and churches in Springs, Texas, and Charleston, South Carolina, the Democratic lawmaker took to the left’s political pulpit to tout her radical gun control agenda – and to bash prayer while she was at it.

“At 1st, I thought of saying, 'Imagine being told your house of faith isn’t safe anymore.' But I couldn’t say ‘imagine,’” AOC expressed, according to The Hill. “What good are your thoughts & prayers when they don’t even keep the pews safe?”

She later tried her hand at damage control to defend and explain herself regarding her remark on prayer so that it did not appear as though she was attacking the prime minister of New Zealand’s Christian faith in the power of prayer.

“(‘Thoughts and prayers’ is reference to the NRA’s phrase used to deflect conversation away from policy change during tragedies,” AOC tweeted Friday. “Not directed to PM Ardern, who I greatly admire.)”

Of AOC, Obama and Trump …

Despite the fact that much of her publicity is negative, the leftist media is impressed that AOC has generated so much name recognition early on in her career – even more so than former President Barack Obama in the years before he became president.

“The fact that over 70 percent of the public can form an opinion of a freshman member of Congress is statistically remarkable,” CNN stressed. “For comparison, just 53 percent of Americans had an opinion of then-Illinois Sen. Barack Obama at the end of his first two years in Congress in Gallup's polling. That is, Obama wasn't well known even long after his 2004 Democratic National Convention speech and just before he announced that he was running for president.”

Even with the barrage of anti-Trump “fake news” – generated by CNN and the rest of the mainstream media pushing the Democrat’s leftist agenda – AOC is still somehow rivaling the president in the anti-conservative political climate of the country when it comes to negative opinions.

“The problem for Ocasio-Cortez is that a lot of the people forming an opinion of her are coming down on the negative side, [as] her net favorability rating in these polls put her on par with President Donald Trump,” CNN’s Harry Enten explained. “His net favorability in an average of the latest Fox News and Gallup polls was -12 points – the same as Ocasio-Cortez's.”

Despite her frequent attempts to counter negative media reports via social media – much like President Donald Trump – AOC has been unable to shake off the bad press – even with the media being skewed left.

“Ocasio-Cortez also seems to be generating the same asymmetric intensity in public opinion as the president,” Enten pointed out. “Her strongly unfavorable rating was 18 points higher than her strongly favorable rating in the Fox News pol, [while] Trump's strongly unfavorable rating was [just] 16 points higher than his strongly favorable rating in the same poll.”

After only four months as a lawmaker, AOC has managed to significantly tank her favorability ratings, and her shockingly ultra-left stances have surprisingly taken the notice of more Republicans than Democrats.

“[A]s Ocasio-Cortez has become better known, her unfavorable ratings have gone up far faster than her favorable ratings,” Enten added. “Interestingly, Ocasio-Cortez is better known on the right than she is on the left. In the Gallup poll, just 22 percent of Republicans weren't able to form an opinion of her, [and] among Democrats, it was higher at 29 percent. The same held true in the Fox News poll as well: More Republicans than Democrats hold an opinion of Ocasio-Cortez.”

Because of her seemingly incessant attacks on conservative ideals, the right’s targeting of AOC does not come as a great surprise.

“Conservative talk radio and television shows speak about her ad nauseam,” Enten shared. “It seems to be having an impact, [as] her favorable rating with Republicans is a meager 5 percent to a 73-percent unfavorable rating in the Gallup poll.”

On the left side of the political spectrum, AOC appears to be becoming exceedingly more unpopular, as well.

“The two Democratic presidential candidates recently tested by Gallup who had similar name recognition among Democrats as Ocasio-Cortez had similar – if not slightly better – net favorability ratings,” Enten recalled from the findings. “Ocasio-Cortez scored a +41 point net favorability among Democrats, while Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren came in at +50 points and +41 points respectively.”

At the present, it appears that AOC believes herself to be bullet-proof after her quick rise to liberal stardom nationally.

“It could be the case that Ocasio-Cortez doesn't – and perhaps shouldn't – care that her ratings have gone south,” Enten reasoned. “She clearly has a core group of supporters and is able to drive the national press conversation. [but] for her own electoral sake, the group of voters who will decide her fate are in a slice of the Bronx and Queens' sections of New York City.”

Even though many political figures these days generate negative favorability ratings, such as yearning 2020 Cemocrative presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren – it is worthy to note that AOC is quickly losing the support of key leaders within the Democratic Party – as well as other Democrats who do not want to be affiliated with a young loose-lipped socialist politician who many regard as a loose cannon with her cavalier attitude on almost any issue.

“Still, these poll numbers are a pretty good indication as to why Nancy Pelosi and centrist freshman Democrats have been hesitant to tie themselves too much to Ocasio-Cortez, [and] simply put, [she] isn't popular among Americans at large,” Enten emphasized. “It's also a cautionary tale to Democrats running for president, [as to them] Ocasio-Cortez is no doubt someone whose energetic supporters [they] want on [their] side.”

AOC’s negative popularity and ever-increasing name recognition among her enemies is becoming more and more a rule than an exception in today’s contentious political climate.

“Ocasio-Cortez's brand of politics, however, has not proven to be the golden ticket to becoming popular in our polarized politics,” Enten concluded. “She's been quickly demonized – like almost everybody else.”
