GOP and Dems duking it outA public policy analyst contends that Republicans would be very upset if Democrats did what the lame duck Republican leadership is doing in Wisconsin.

The Republican-controlled Wisconsin legislature passed a sweeping measure taking power away from the incoming Democratic governor and attorney general – as well as reducing how long early voting can take place.

Outgoing Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wis.) intends on signing the measure.

American Family Association (AFA) General Counsel Abraham Hamilton, III, contends that Republicans would be crying foul if the situation was reversed.

"Now is it within their legal authority?” Hamilton posed. “Well, sure the state legislature can use their lawful authority granted them by the state constitution to do what they believe is right; however, it's pretty plain to me that if this had been in reverse – in terms of political party affiliations – then you'd have lots of people on the Republican side of the aisle very upset at this particular maneuver."

The Christian legal expert maintains that this is what happens in the field of politics.

"Now, whether or not Governor Walker and the state legislature believe that the incoming Democratic governor and attorney general are detrimental to the forward advancement of the state of Wisconsin, that may be so, but the people of Wisconsin – according to their votes – have determined that they no longer wanted to retain Governor Walker, and they wanted to transfer leadership of their state to a Democratic governor and a Democratic attorney general,” Hamilton explained. “So, this is politics is what it is."

The incoming Democratic governor has already threatened a lawsuit over this move.
