A demand for free speech on college campuses will be one of the topics discussed this weekend when conservatives gather in Washington, D.C. for the annual Values Voters Summit.
Kassy Dillon, staff writer at The Daily Wire, will participate in a panel Saturday with blogger Hannah Scherlacher and attorney Casey Mattox of the Charles Koch Institute.
Values Voter Summit, hosted by FRC Action, is held annually at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
While attending a small women's college in western Massachusetts, Dillon founded Lone Conservative, a blog created to give a voice to conservative college students.
Today, Lone Conservative boasts 250 student writers.
"I think it's really important that we talk about free speech in the context of college campuses," she believes. "We'll be focusing on different schools that have not been kind to conservatives on campus and have not really allowed their free speech."
Colleges seemingly love talking about diversity, she tells OneNewsNow, but they don't really mean diversity of thought, which would include conservative points of view in class.
In her own experience, she says, even in a class on Arabic the professor and other classmates repeatedly "bashed" Trump.
Asked about the speaker lineup at VVS, Dillon says she is looking forward to hearing Vice President Mike Pence speak, as well as former congresswoman Michelle Bachmann and Masterpiece Cakeshop owner Jack Phillips.
AFA Action is among the annual sponsors VVS.
