A conservative activist says the left's reaction to President Trump's banning transgenders from military service has been over the top.
When Trump tweeted the statement about his ban, left-wing groups immediately played the bigotry card. Then on Friday, dozens of radical LGBT activists staged a protest across the street from where the president delivered a speech on Long Island. And even Republicans like Senator John McCain have questioned the president's decision.
Gary Bauer, founder of the Campaign for Working Families, says the president saw no positive military contribution from the Obama transgender policy.
"He was deeply concerned about damage that could be caused to unit cohesion, morale, and so forth," Bauer submits. "When you have men and women living in close quarters and under the Obama rules being asked to share showers and bathrooms, that is a very difficult situation to get people used to."
Trump's action hopefully signals more changes to come, including backing away from allowing women into front-line combat units, says Family Research Council national security analyst Bob Maginnis.
OneNewsNow has reported how the Obama-led Pentagon ignored a Marine Corps training exercise that found female Marines failed to keep up with their male counterparts in simulated combat, such as carrying wounded comrades, lifting and carrying artillery shells.
Maginnis, who authored a book examing the dangerous policy of women in front-line combat, says the Pentagon needs to get back to its mission of "war-fighting" in the U.S. armed forces.
"We face a lot of threats in the world," says Maginnis, rattling off possible future conflicts with North Korea and Iran among others.
Bauer points out that all President Trump did was restore the policy regarding transgenders in the military to what it was before Obama ordered the change late in his presidency.
"Because the president went back to a policy that existed just 13 months ago, we're seeing the same avalanche of accusations of bigotry ... discrimination, and all the rest of it," Bauer laments. "He did the right thing. Values voters should be happy, and hopefully this will hold up under the inevitable counter-attack that we're seeing right now."
The Campaign founder adds that these same outraged individuals never show any such concern over the VA’s negligent treatment of many veterans.
