ObamaCare (generic)With many people today wanting Republicans to keep their promise to repeal and replace Obamacare, one seniors group is making an additional request.

Besides pushing for end of the so-called “Affordable Care Act,” 60 Plus Association also wants Republicans to keep their promise and restore money cut from Medicare.

"They took funds out of the Medicare program to pay for Obamacare," 60 Plus Association Chairman Jim Martin asserts. "Who got hurt by that? …. Senior citizens."

Martin pointed out that many hospitals in rural America have closed in recent years – due, in part, to the cuts to Medicare.

"Hospitals have to show a profit to stay solvent, of course, and by cutting those funds out of their programs, many of those hospitals went out of business," he explained. "Who gets impacted the most by that? [It’s} senior citizens."

60 Plus has launched an ad campaign asking Republicans if seniors across rural America will be left behind in the Obamacare repeal.

"I was on radio row at CPAC before President Trump came to speak," Martin shared. "We're trying to get the message out loud and clear to seniors across America to ‘Hold your member of congress – hold their feet to the fire because they made promises to restore those cuts to Medicare."

Obamacare reportedly cut more than $700 billion from Medicare, but groups such as the Center for Medicare Advocacy (CMA) call that a "myth."

"The Affordable Care Act does not cut Medicare for beneficiaries," contended CMA's Medicare Facts & Fiction webpage. "The Affordable Care Act achieves savings in the Medicare program through a series of payment reforms, service delivery innovations and increased efforts to reduce fraud, waste and abuse."
