Donald Trump 2Longtime conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly has not endorsed Donald Trump for president, she told a radio show this week.

Schafly told the "Focal Point" program that she had not endorsed the billionaire businessman despite an interview in which she agreed he could be the "last hope" for America.

"I haven't really endorsed anybody for president," Schafly clarified after the WorldNetDaily "exclusive" on Dec. 22 in which she was interviewed.

Schafly

Schafly, an attorney and author, remains a conservative anti-feminist icon after founding Eagle Forum in  1972.

Various media outlets reported that Schafly had endorsed Trump - including WorldNetDaily itself after Trump responded to her praise for him in the interview.

In an email to him supporters, Trump didn't claim an endorsement but wrote he appreciated Schafly's "support."

Media outlets also ran with Schafly's description that Trump was the "last hope" for America, though the unnamed WND reporter had asked her if she believes Trump is the "last hope for America."

"He does look like he's the last hope," she replied.

Like the WND interview, Schafly told "Focal Point" that she credits Trump for making immigration a major issue of the presidential campaign.

"Because it is a matter of the sovereignty of our country," she said.

Adams

Many other social conservatives are lining up behind Sen. Ted Cruz, whom Schafly said would make a good vice president.

"He'd be good on the Supreme Court," she said in the AFR interview. "And I hope he will have a place in the new government."

Meanwhile, Cathie Adams of Texas Eagle Forum tells OneNewsNow that Trump is not a "social conservative" and he can't point to a record of conservative beliefs.

"We have a fighter in this race. We have a man with a proven record in this race," Adams says. "And that man is Ted Cruz."

Adams says she is personally supporting Cruz and believes the majority of other Eagle Forum state leaders are as well.
