A national defense analyst says it’s appalling that the Left claims to be outraged when Muslims are harmed but seems to be dismissing the heinous Easter morning attacks on Christians in Sri Lanka.
The body count has topped 300, with more than 500 wounded, after suicide bombers struck churches and also attacked several hotels that are popular with tourists.
The coordinated attacks were carried out by a known Islamic terrorist group known as “National Thowfeek Jamaath.”
Bob Maginnis, senior fellow for national security at the Family Research Council, says it’s not a secret Christians are a routine target around the globe.
“When you juxtapose the overwhelming sympathy shown to the tragedy there in New Zealand for the Muslims that were killed,” he observes, “I just think it's hypocritical of some people where they tend to dismiss attacks against Christians and are more grieved openly with attacks that are aimed at the Muslim groups."
Sarah Cunningham of Open Doors USA, a persecution watchdog, says the bombings were planned for Easter to strike fear in the hearts of Christians.
“We mourn with them and stand with them,” she tells says of the victims, “and we encourage our local and world officials to advocate for them, to confront any injustice or violence like this in the future.”
Maginnis agrees with others that it was eye-opening when prominent liberals, including Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, referred to the Sri Lanka bombing victims as “Easter worshippers” in expressing sympathy for their deaths.
Both of them used Twitter to express sympathy for the bombing victims but observant people noticed the repeated use of “Easter worshippers” by numerous far-left individuals --- and the absence of the word "Christians."
“I'm not surprised having just written a book on progressives,” Maginnis says. “Progressives, they typically hate Christians and certainly Clinton is in that ballpark. Obama is a big progressive as are all the announced presidential candidates for the Democratic Party.”
Open Doors is inviting fellow Christians to visit its website to send an encouraging word to fellow believers in Sri Lanka.
Cunningham says the organization is on the ground in Sri Lanka and the Open Doors the website is a source of current updates.

It’s not surprising to know the Cuban government wants to control what it teaches children in the Communist country and now a pastor and his wife have been arrested for homeschooling their children.

A longtime Democratic lawmaker is calling for Minneapolis protesters to get “more confrontational” if a jury decides ex-cop Derek Chauvin did not kill George Floyd, and that call for street violence is being defended by the Speaker of the House.
