Fulani militant (2)A persecution watchdog group is concerned with the violent attacks perpetrated by Fulani terrorists throughout the Middle Belt region of Nigeria.

Nathan Johnson of International Christian Concern reports that brutal attacks by those hardline Islamic militants have caused the death toll to rise in recent months.

"What we're seeing," says Johnson, "is still very widespread violence across the Middle Belt killing hundreds of people, majority of those being Christians."

Johnson says this undeclared war has turned Muslims and Christians against each other in a confrontation that threatens the stability of Nigeria, including a poissible future civil war if the violence continues.

The continued Fulani attacks plus the apparent comeback of another militant Islamic group, Boko Haram, have put Christians on high alert.

“With the growth of Boko Haram,” Johnson advises, “we're seeing more attacks on Christian communities in states like Benue and Adamawa.”

Such attacks are not reported very often, he adds, but Christians know about them and about the raging conflict in their country.
