A new nationwide poll revealed on Tuesday that a majority of Americans believe President Joe Biden is the cause of the current crisis taking place at the United States’ southern border.
A new NPR/Marist poll conducted from March 22–25 on more than 1,300 Americans from coast to coast divulged that 53% of Americans disapprove of Biden’s handling of immigration, while only 33% approve of his performance – namely at the border.
Sinking on immigration
Even though the poll showed that Biden passed the 50% threshold on his overall approval rating, as well as with his rating on the way he has handled the COVID-19 pandemic and the economy, most Americans are unhappy with the way his administration is dealing with the border problem – a dire situation that Democrats call a challenge while refusing to call it a crisis.
When looking down party lines, 66% of Democrats approve of Biden’s immigration work, with 23% disapproving.
However, the poll shows that a mere 5% of Republicans and only 27% of independents approve of how Biden has handled immigration during the first two months of his presidency.
Not even half (43%) of Latinos in the NPR/Marist poll approve of Biden’s handling of the border, with only 43% approving.
The unpopularity of Biden’s border policy is not only shown by the progressive NPR/Marist pollsters, but from others in the leftist mainstream media conducting another nationwide poll at the close of last month, as an ABC News/Ipsos poll divulged a less favorable result for Biden, with 57% of Americans saying he is doing a disagreeable job handling immigration.
Despite attempts by the White House and the mainstream media to cover up the border crisis, it has become clear to a majority of Americans that his open borders catch-and-release policy – that is reportedly sending thousands of illegal immigrants to all parts of the country – is a failure and a major security issue/health crisis.
“Biden is overseeing an inhumane crisis at the southern border, as law enforcement officials are overwhelmed by a record-breaking influx of illegal crossings,” Townhall reported. “The surge is directly correlated with the president’s encouragement of illegal immigration and is a tangible result of Biden’s move to rescind the Trump administration’s immigration regulations.”
In the face of refusing to call the border situation a crisis, Biden cannot dodge his mishandling of the border as he continues to reverse Trump’s immigration policies. Consequently, he recently had to direct federal workers to administer “urgent efforts” to deal with the continued surge of unaccompanied migrant children being taken to the southern border by smugglers as a result of inviting immigrants to enter the country during his campaign.
“Thousands of the children are being temporarily housed in border facilities that were set up for adults,” Fox News pointed out. “Biden is also facing incoming fire from the Democratic Party's progressive left, which is increasingly frustrated with the slow progress so far by the president to deliver what he promised on the 2020 campaign trail – a more humane immigration system than the restrictive policies under former President Donald Trump's administration.”
In fact, the very “cages” that the Obama administration set up during Biden’s two terms as vice president – which Democrats blasted Trump for using, calling them “inhumane” over the past four years – are still being used by the Biden administration … and under much less humane conditions.
The border detention centers that Democrats – such as Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) – called concentration camps, which were designed to hold 250 immigrants, are now holding more than 4,000 because the president welcomed immigrants to freely cross the border. And those flooding the border have COVID-19 positive rates many times higher than American citizens.
Putting America at risk
As the Biden administration is trying to find what to do with hundreds of migrant girls illegally entering America’s southern border, another crisis – spreading COVID-19 – has evolved in many detention centers from Texas to California.
“Of more than 700 unaccompanied girls transferred to the center [in San Diego, California], at least 82 tested positive for the virus as of Tuesday afternoon,” according to a report Fox News received from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday. “All of the girls had been tested before being transported to the temporary facility Monday, with 59 testing positive for coronavirus.”
Besides the U.S. Border Patrol being under greater risk of infection, teachers in San Diego are being told to begin in-person instruction of migrant children – who have much higher rates of COVID-19 than the children enrolled in the school district who are being forced to continue virtual learning because of the pandemic.
“Unaccompanied child migrants housed at the San Diego Convention Center have an alarmingly high COVID-19 infections rate – but local teachers will be providing them in-person instruction before their own students,” Fox News informed.
