A conservative activist is convinced that Sen. Chris Murphy (D- Conn.) recently met with an Iranian official in order to encourage him that a future Democratic president will be more favorable to the Islamic Republic’s regime.
Recently, the Connecticut Democrat returned from the Munich Security Conference and announced that he and other senators met with Iranian Foreign Minister Javid Zarif.
"If Trump isn't going to talk to Iran , then someone should,” Murphy insisted. “A lack of dialogue leaves nations guessing about their enemies intentions."
The left-leaning senator claimed that he urged Zarif to release American hostages and stop supporting terrorism.
But Campaign for Working Families Chairman Gary Bauer – who leads his conservative Political Action Committee – is convinced that Murphy had another objective in meeting with the Iranians.
"There is no doubt in my mind that the senator went to meet with Iranian officials because he wanted to tell them to hold on, that there's an election coming up in November, and that when the Democrats win that election, they are immediately going to go back in to the ill-conceived Iranian nuclear deal, which ended up giving Iran billions and billions of dollars,” Bauer argued. “Every one of the Democrat candidates has said they will go back into that deal immediately."
Bauer believes his analysis of the situation is exactly what took place.
"A Democrat senator colluding with an adversary of the United States [is what Murphy is] – guy who is part of the effort to promote a false narrative that somehow President Trump colluded with Russia," Bauer contended.
