Angel Mom burns Bernie over his threat to shatter ICE

Bernie SandersAfter Senator Bernie Sanders blamed Immigration and Customs Enforcement for making illegal immigrant families live in fear of having loved ones deported, one Angel Mom challenged him to meet victims like her – who have had family members die at the hands of illegals.

Sanders (I-Vermont), an open-borders advocate who is seeking the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, promoted an article last week titled "Daughters ask Vegas community for support as dad faces deportation ahead of the holidays." The article was published by The Nevada Independent in an attempt to build up sentiment for immigrants living in the United States illegally – while condemning ICE for detaining the father and upholding the law.

Promoting breaking the law

Sanders took to Twitter last week using the Las Vegas family's story to gain sentiment and support for his pro-immigration agenda – one of the most liberal amongst Democratic presidential candidates – and he seized the opportunity to make a promise to his far-left socialist fan base.

"We will put a moratorium on deportations and break up ICE so that no family has to live in terror of losing their loved ones," Sanders tweeted Wednesday. "We must stand with our immigrant family and, together, build an immigration system grounded in civil and human rights."

The senator's vow/threat did not sit well with Angel Mom Sabine Durden-Coulter – a legal immigrant – especially in light of her tragic loss at the hands of a criminal alien who evaded authorities and the law while continuing to live in the U.S. illegally. As Townhall reports, Durden-Coulter's only son, Dominic, was killed by an illegal immigrant with a record of drunk driving who crashed into her son's motorcycle.

Many considered the punishment for the involuntary manslaughter crime a mere slap on the wrist. "The man who killed her son only spent 35 days in jail, and it took over a year to get him deported to Guatemala," The Western Journal informed.

Durden-Coulter – a vocal advocate for Angel Families, a group of families who have lost loved ones to illegals – swiftly took to Twitter to present a challenge to the liberal senator gunning for open borders.

"Hey @BernieSanders, how about you meet with a few of us who already KNOW the terror of losing a loved one?" Durden-Coulter tweeted Thursday. "Come on, be man enough to look into our eyes and tell us that 2 our face. Contact me and let's do this."

The Angel Mom is a devout advocate of President Donald Trump's tough-on-immigration stance so that tragedies – such as the one she experienced – will not happen to more American families.

"Durden-Coulter has been working with Trump administration officials this past week in Raleigh, North Carolina, where ICE officials say jails are refusing to hand over dangerous illegal immigrants," The Western Journal's Erin Coates noted.

She also took her story to the conservative media to remind Americans about the toll illegal immigration has taken on the country – reminding them that the issue is not civil rights or humanitarian aid, but about upholding the law and protecting American citizens.

"Speak up about it – it's not about racism, it's about the law and we all have to follow the law," Durden-Coulter told the audience of Fox News. "We have to speak up and elect people that will defend Americans, not illegals, because somebody is in somebody's pocket when you imagine they're releasing dangerous criminals, illegals, back out into the communities. Wake up America!"

Welcoming illegals or courting the vote?

A large part of the pro-immigration agenda promoted in Sanders' platform has to do with a break-up of ICE. Sanders' campaign website lists the top five action steps under "A Welcoming and Safe America for All' – highlighting key steps that he vows to take if elected president next November:

  • "Institute a moratorium on deportations until a thorough audit of past practices and policies is complete."
  • "Reinstate and expand DACA and develop a humane policy for those seeking asylum."
  • "Completely reshape and reform our immigration enforcement system, including breaking up ICE and CBP and redistributing their functions to their proper authorities."
  • "Dismantle cruel and inhumane deportation programs and detention centers and reunite families who have been separated."
  • "Live up to our ideals as a nation and welcome refugees and those seeking asylum – including those displaced by climate change."

Cochise County Sheriff Mark Dannels – whose jurisdiction in the border state of Arizona has witnessed the numerous problems that go hand-in-hand with illegal immigration – warned Americans of the untold dangers Sanders willingly omitted when he released his pro-immigration plan earlier this month.

"If we don't have a secure border in this country, we will have a different country," Dannels cautioned while appearing on Cavuto Live on November 9. "We need to stand united – and the plan that Senator Sanders is putting forward is a disaster for this country."
