A longtime conservative activist is praising President Donald Trump for staking out a tough stance against the Islamic Republican of Iran.
“Countries with governments like Iran only understand one thing and that's strength,” Gary Bauer told American Family Radio this week.
Bauer, a former Reagan official who leads American Values, was reacting to the drone attacks on container ships in the Persian Gulf.
The attacks are being blamed on Iran after surveillance video reportedly shows Iranian boats removing unexploded mines from one of the damaged ships.
That incident is just the latest example of escalating tension in the region after the Pentagon warned U.S. armed forces of credible threats linked to Iran in recent weeks.
Bauer says the tanker attacks should be a wake-up call to “sleepwalking” countries around the world who are ignoring the danger posed by Iran.
“And it's not becoming very dangerous because of Donald Trump,” Bauer said. “It's becoming very dangerous because really evil regimes are getting closer and closer to having weapons of mass destruction.”
Bauer went on to say the Trump administration should not cower but take a bold stance against U.S. foes such as North Korea, China, and Russia.
OneNewsNow reported in a June 17 story, meanwhile, that Trump is being criticized for his warm and fuzzy approach to North Korea’s brutal dictator.
