In the wake of the mass shootings killing 50 Muslims at a two mosques in New Zealand, the island nation’s ban on semi-automatic weapons and call for stiffer gun control laws than America are viewed as sending the message that “white people” are to blame – essentially bowing down to Islam.
Skirting over the mass killings of Christians at the hand of Islamic terrorists in Nigeria and worldwide, the mainstream media continues to hone in on the mosque shootings and pushing the theme that atrocities are being perpetrated by whites against peace-loving Muslims.
“Essentially, the message has been ‘white people’ are responsible, and that, of course, means ‘Donald Trump is at fault,’” WND reported. “In a bizarre incident, demonstrators in New York confronted Chelsea Clinton and blamed her for the incident and hate!”
Turning the tables …
It is argued that the mosque shootings have provided a convenient vehicle to divert the attention from Islamic terrorism to terrorism aimed at Muslims by whites – helping Islamic leaders tip the scales in the ongoing battle waged between fundamental Islam and traditional Christianity.
“To many, ‘them’s fightin’ words’; but they present a dilemma we all face in this world of 2019,” WND’s Barbara Simpson concluded, regarding the media’s portrayal of Islam and Christianity. “Every time bullets are fired, swords and knives wielded, or fists fly against some perceived opposition, the media present a picture that fits its own preconceived notion of who is responsible and why; mainly that whites are guilty and Islam was protecting itself.”
The fact that the New Zealand shooter was white and proclaimed that his target was believers in Islam has fed into a media frenzy to build the narrative that Muslims are victims of intolerant whites.
“Even though Donald Trump was mentioned in his screed, he said he did not favor him, nor did he want him to succeed,” Simpson explained. “In fact, his goal was to create dissention in the United States to disrupt our country. Yet to hear and read the media babble over the last week, you would never know that. Hours of broadcast – as well as Internet and print news – are filled with thousands of words about the killings … most are sympathetic for the victims.”
What about the Christian vicitms?
Objective coverage of shootings should always be the media’s practice, but the mainstream media only covering one side of the bigger battle of Islam vs. Christianity – where fundamental Muslims proudly declare their holy war (jihad) against infidels (those who do not submit to Islam’s god, Allah) – is deemed as unacceptable.
“[W]hat is wrong with overall media reportage is there is virtually NO coverage of the mass killings of Christians across the world by militant Islamists – the same day, the same week,” Simpson argued. “Did you know that the same day as the New Zealand shooting, more than 20 Christians in the Philippines were shot in their church by Muslim militants? The same week in Nigeria, Christians were the continued targets of militant Islamists, with 53 dead and 43 homes destroyed. The day before, another village was a target – 17 dead and multiple homes destroyed. A month prior, 16 were killed in another village.”
While virtually all coverage portrayed Muslims as victims, martyred Christians are mostly ignored by the media … intentionally.
“Did you see any headlines about those killings?” Simpson posed. “Did you get inundated with sympathy for the dead Christians, or anger against the Islamist killers? No, you did not. Media ignored it and them. I could go on and on with statistics of citizens and priests being the victims as unprovoked attacks against Christians continue with people killed, families destroyed and churches and towns desecrated.”
Even though the killings in Nigeria and other mass killings of Christians around the world at the hands of militant Muslims is ongoing, these stories are moot in the media, while the one-time, isolated attack of two mosques in New Zealand is highlighted as if jihad against Christians never takes place and that white aggression against Muslims is a longstanding problem.
“Unfortunately, the media continues to ignore the attacks, the destruction, the injuries and the deaths – it’s as though it never happens,” Simpson continued. “While the media lament the New Zealand deaths and provide news coverage of the survivors and the burials of the dead, the government of New Zealand is in the midst of changing the face of that beautiful country.”
One act of violence has turned the stigma of New Zealand as a peaceful paradise into one of being an island of violent Muslim-haters.
“I’ve been to New Zealand and remain struck by the physical beauty of the land – the kindness of the people and the freedoms that existed,” Simpson noted. “It is a place that should be sacrosanct, but the shooter made certain his hateful act against Muslims would lead to an over-reaction by non-Muslims to the point that many residents see their country being irrevocably changed …”
Disarming whites to appease Muslims?
As a result of the shootings, plans by New Zealand lawmakers are in the making to disarm whites because the white shooter successfully stigmatized whites as aggressors against Muslims.
“Extraordinarily strict gun laws are being proposed – even though their current gun restrictions are very strict,” Simpson pointed out. “There’s great scrutiny now for what can be called ‘hate speech,’ with the perpetrators facing legal strictures.”
Now, Muslims are generally being treated as oppressed victims nationwide – somehow worthy of more protections because of a lone-wolf attack by a white man.
“Extra protection is being given to mosques by armed police – even though New Zealand police usually aren’t armed,” Simpson informed. “Bookstores with any volumes that might be regarded as ‘anti-Islam’ are being told to remove them. Even more concerning to many is that ALL women are being urged to wear a hijab; Christian and Catholic Churches are holding Muslim services; and the Muslim call to prayer is being broadcast nationally, in person, and on TV and radio with Muslim prayers being read aloud.”
It is feared that the mosque shooting is setting up Islam to take advantage of over-apologetic and disarmed white New Zealanders – even Catholics
“In what is considered by many an over-reaction, Catholic priests and bishops have supported the ‘inter-faith’ attitude to the extent of having joint services and even with Catholic school students praying in mosques,” Simpson noted. “Is New Zealand reacting to the horror of the shootings and respect for the dead – or giving in to Islam and accepting it without question?”
This trend is not only taking place in New Zealand, as officials are fearful to take increased measures to stop Islamic terrorist attacks.
“More importantly, is the same thing happening in the western world – and that includes the United States?” Simpson asked. “The death count in Europe of people killed in Islamist attacks total in the thousands. Those attacks continue. [And] never forget, in the United States more than 3,000 Americans were killed in one day by Islamist terrorists who perpetrated the World Trade Center attacks – and many more have died since.”
Fears that those waging the “war on terror” are cowering to politically correct pressures to ease their security measures against potential Islamic terrorists appear to be coming true, as race and religious profiling are coming under more scrutiny as leftist pro-immigration activists continue to push their agenda.
“At what point do we have the courage to report the truth of what is going on – or have we lost already because of lack of courage?” Simpson questioned. “The problem is, the media have turned into a mass movement with homogenized thinking. There is so little original thought, perceptive analysis of what is transpiring and what it all means, that media are rendered impotent – except for their ability to rile up the unthinking masses and spread untruths and innuendo.”
It is contended that tolerating Islamic terrorism is something at which Americans should be ashamed.
“With media, there is no ‘at best,’ there is only ‘at worst’ – and we will ultimately suffer for it,” Simpson insisted. “Actually, let me modify that statement: Our children will suffer for it, and that is an abomination – it must be changed.”
Socialist politicians aiding Islam?
Shortly after the mosque shootings, New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Arden declared a ban last week on all “military-style semi-automatic weapons.”
"Today, I am announcing that New Zealand will ban all military-style semi-automatic weapons," Ardern proclaimed Thursday, according to TheBlaze. "We will ban all high-capacity magazines. We will ban all parts with the ability to convert semi-automatic – or any other type of firearm – into a military-style semi-automatic weapon. In short, every semi-automatic weapon used in the terrorist attack on Friday will be banned in this country."
This was music to the ears of self-proclaimed socialist political leaders Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), who are using the tragedy to push lawmakers to follow New Zealand’s lead by a wholesale ban on semi-automatic rifles.
Sanders was one of the first pro-gun control politicians to give New Zealand’s PM accolades for declaring the ban on firearms, and he soon turned the attention to the United States, where he has crusaded to take away Americans’ right to protect themselves – a right guaranteed by the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
"This is what real action to stop gun violence looks like,” Sanders tweeted, according to TheBlaze. “We must follow New Zealand's lead, take on the NRA and ban the sale and distribution of assault weapons in the United States.”
Within five minutes, AOC – a proud member of the Democratic Socialists of America – ripped in to American lawmakers and praised Arden for her progressive handling of the shooting.
"Sandy Hook happened six years ago, and we can't even get the Senate to hold a vote on universal background checks w/ #HR8.," AOC wrote, according to TheBlaze. "Christchurch happened, and within days New Zealand acted to get weapons of war out of the consumer market. This is what leadership looks like."
However, this tag-team effort against gun rights was addressed by the National Rifle Association (NRA), as NRA Spokeswoman Dana Loesch took direct aim at AOC’s anti-gun remark regarding New Zealand’s handling of the mosque massacres.
"That’s also what an entirely different country that doesn’t have the right to bear arms as a cornerstone of its constitution – in addition to numerous state laws,” Loesch shot back at AOC, according to Fox News. “It’s also what confiscation and banning most semi-auto looks like, too."
