Trump and bin SalmanThe head of a messianic Jewish ministry says President Donald Trump is taken a realistic approach to Saudi Arabia after the murder of a Saudi journalist.

Talking to reporters before boarding Marine One last week, President Trump made it clear that the United States has too much invested in Saudi Arabia to punish the country's government over the brutal murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul, Turkey last month.

"Donald Trump is first and foremost a businessman," observes Jan Markell, founder and director of Olive Tree Ministries and host of "Understanding the Times" on American Family Radio.

"But beyond that," she adds, "he's looking out for the interests of America and the free world. And he knows if Saudi Arabia goes haywire, then the world's economy goes haywire, then all the stability goes haywire."

Markell, Jan (Olive Tree Ministries)The United States has a history of looking away when it comes to atrocities in Saudi Arabia, with the goal of ensuring it remains a stable country.

"And now they're an ally of Israel. And right now we've got a virtual peace treaty," Markell advises. "It may not be on paper but a virtual peace treaty between the Saudis and the Israelis."

Such an unofficial peace treaty, she insists, is "far more important" than Khashoggi's assassination.

"Why would we want to destabilize the world over one person? That's lunacy," she says. "So I'm totally behind the president and what he's doing."
