Trump and Nikki Haley (Oct 2018)The head of a messianic Jewish ministry says while the announcement that Nikki Haley is resigning as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is "devastating" to Americans who love the state of Israel, she knows someone who would make a good replacement.

During a joint appearance Tuesday with President Trump at the White House, Haley said that after six years as governor of South Carolina and two as ambassador, it was time to step aside. She plans to leave the administration at the end of the year.

"No, there's no personal reasons [for my decision]," she replied when asked by a reporter. "I think that it's just very important for government officials to understand when it's time to step aside. I have given everything I've got these last eight years – and I do think that sometimes it's good to rotate in other people who can put that same energy and power into it."

Jan Markell, founder and director of Minnesota-based Olive Tree Ministries, shares a love for Israel with the outgoing ambassador.

Markell, Jan (Olive Tree Ministries)"... The Jerusalem Post and other sources [are] implying anyway that she had some issues with President Donald Trump, and perhaps all of this will come out in time," the ministry leader tells OneNewsNow. "However, it is totally devastating for the pro-Israel community. She has been, without a doubt, Israel's best friend."

Trump was questioned yesterday about who he might choose to replace Haley, to which he replied that he was considering many candidates and that a successor would be named in two to three weeks. Markell offers a suggestion.

"I think one potential person is my good friend Michele Bachmann, who is already operating out of the United Nations as sort of a Christian ambassador to the United Nations," she says. "She has the same sentiment, the same politics, the same passion for Israel [as Haley], and the same desire to see the United Nations make a turnaround."

Markell thinks Bachmann would take the job. The former congresswoman, a longtime supporter of Israel, represented Minnesota's 6th congressional district from 2007-2015.
